The 58 member-beneficiaries of the Manampunay Farmers Association and the local residents are now enjoying the benefits of the Php500, 328 DOLE-assisted Rice and Farm Inputs Retailing Project at Brgy. Manampunay, Leon, Iloilo which is a Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) priority area.

With its purpose of lifting the lives of the vulnerable sector, the store provides additional income to the member- beneficiaries and easy access to farm needs of the local farmers. Its proximity lessens the transportation cost for the farm necessities and the lower cost of the products is a big help for the farmers.

The project is part of DOLE’s commitment as member of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) to provide livelihood and to promote peace in the countryside.

The NTF-ELCAC was created through Executive Order 70 signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in 2018, institutionalizing the whole-of-nation approach to address the long-standing local communist armed conflict.

DOLE, as member of the task force’s Poverty Reduction Livelihood and Economic Cluster (PRLEC) provides livelihood that targets to push “self-reliant, productive, resilient and sustainable communities” in the countryside through a whole-of-nation convergence and good governance approach.

According to Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr., the DOLE-assisted livelihood project aims to alleviate poverty which is one of the major cause of disruption of peace in the countryside.

He added that the project directs the focus of the marginalized farmers to become progressive members of the community and reduces their vulnerability to influence that leads to conflicts and disputes.
